RAPCAN (Resources Aimed at the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) is a registered Non-profit Company, Non-profit Organisation and Public Benefit Organisation based in Cape Town, South Africa.


Our STAFF


Christina Nomdo is the Executive Director of Resources Aimed at the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (RAPCAN). She is a doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Law at at the University of Cape Town (UCT), has a Masters in gender studies from UCT and specialises in institution building, advocacy, research and training. Her special interests are children’s autonomy rights, child rights budgeting and youth development.

Tarisai Mchuchu is RAPCAN’s Deputy Director since January 2015. Her aim is to empower young people to make positive life choices and to change the mind-set of the community at large to thinking about children, youth and rights. She is passionate about child rights. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (2006) and Bachelor of Laws (2010) at the University of Cape Town.

Eugene Patientia is a graduate of the University of Cape Town. His key areas of expertise are research support, funding proposal management, information management as well as monitoring and evaluation.

Nicci Courtney-Clarke is a qualified Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and recently joined RAPCAN as Finance Manager. She has extensive corporate finance experience and adds great value and learnings to ensuring sound financial governance practices.

Crystal Beukes is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation and has an Honours degree in Accounting from the University of Western Cape.


Merle Swartz is responsible for the coordination of the child protection programmes and is currently studying towards a degree in Social Work at the University of South Africa.

Shane Lentoor is currently studying towards a BA degree through the University of South Africa and is the Programme Manager for Child Participation. He specializes in performing arts, facilitation, community development and youth development.

Noluntu Njoli is responsible for office administration and support. She has a Certificate in Office Administration, Informal Small Business Practice from The Tourism & Business Institute of South Africa.

Mercia Jales is responsible for housekeeping, catering and assists with general office administration.
